Here you can find out all you need to know about local Chelmsford based classes in dance and musical theatre for children and adults to enjoy!!
Based predominantly in the lovely village of Great Waltham, on the outskirts of Chelmsford, children's classes were originially set up by professional dancer Charlotte Spooner back in 2005. Enjoyed so much by pupils, the classes began to grow, adding to it, adult Dancercise classes and children's holiday workshops and parties. Charlotte launched Astara in September 2010 and since then she has been able to offer new classes such as Mother & Toddler Dance and Teen Hip Hop, as well as setting up a brand new Saturday afternoon school in Downham, Billericay. She choreographs couple's wedding dances, professional themed gigs and of course the big yearly Astara show, as well as keeping her toes in the performing world herself! As you can imagine all of this keeps her very busy, and so a year on, we welcome a few additions to the Astara team with the likes of Abbey Prior and vocal coach Lucy Lawson. The Downham branch is currently led by Musical Theatre teacher Miss Jade Egan. Lastly in the Astara mix are t-shirts and hoodies still available for you to order and personalised with the Astara logo and the children's names on. It's ok adults, you can order yourself one too!
Please visit our Timetable page for information on Astara classes that are available from April 2012.

Not only do we offer services to children aged 1+ but all the way up to adults in their 60's! We hope you enjoy the Astara site and please contact us for more information on classes, workshop, parties or perhaps an event where you need professional dancers, choreographers or fun entertainers!
Astara Principal - Charlotte Spooner

Encouraging children to be musical and creative with dance and fun activities at a young age has excellent benefits. Astara does not put children through examinations however encourages them to gain enough confidence to perform in regular shows, and most importantly enjoy themselves! Every child that attends an Astara class is important and it is our responsibility to boost their confidence and to forfill their potential,
